The Maha Mrityunjaya Yagya is a special Yagna/Yagya to Lord Shiva. This Yagya is performed to ensure a long and healthy life.
Maha Mrityunjaya Yagya is also performed to get rid of prolonged sickness and to attain a long and healthy life.
This is also performed to bring an end to prolonged or severe sickness, as well as for many other difficulties in life. By tradition is also suggested to alleviate the malefic influence of Mangal (Mars) or Shani (Saturn) when certain astrological combinations are there in the Jyotish chart/horoscope. Maha Mrityunjaya Yagna is performed to keep away from premature death and increase longevity.
The Beej Mantra for Maha Mrityunjaya Yagya is
“Om tryambakkam yajamahey,
Sugandhimpustivardhanam
Urvaarokameva bandanaan
Mrityormooksheya maamritaat”
Meaning -
“Lord Shiva is the three-eyed god. Shiva is always perfumed. He fosters all the creatures of the Universe. Lord Shiva releases from death for the sake of immortality, as cucumber detaches its bondage of the vine. We worship Lord Shiva to liberate us from death”

Mahamrityunjaya yantra is for for longevity, freedom from fear, sickness and ill-health, victory over diseases.
You need to get Pran Pratishtha done for the Yantra
Beej Mantra for this Yantra - "Tryamabakam Yajamahe
Saugandhim Pushti vardhanam
Urvarukmiv Bandhanan
mrityor mukhsheevamamritiyat"
after Pranpatishtha you need to worship the Yantra as follows:
1. Purify your body and start with a clear and positive frame of mind.
2. Find a place on the floor facing east, where you will be undisturbed.
3. Light Incense / Diya
4. Lay fresh flowers and a fresh fruit on the altar.
5. Open the Yantra and place it along with the image of the deity of yantra and your ISHT God.
6. Take some water and sprinkle it on yourself and then on the Yantra using the leaf of a tree.
7. Close your eyes and fix the image of the diety in your mind. Now with all sincerity, ask God to grant you the desire of your life that you wanted to be fulfilled in your own language.
Now chant the specific BEEJ MANTRA of the YANTRA at least 9 times.
